At Sky Social, we have actively contributed to the localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in collaboration with the Department of Panchayati Raj in Madhya Pradesh. As a member of their State Level Core Committee, we have worked extensively to translate global goals into local actions by supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of SDGs at the Panchayat level.
Our work included:
- Designing youth engagement policies and recommending changes in policy implementation.
- Planning grassroots interventions to address gaps and ensure effective SDG integration.
- Conducting training sessions for stakeholders such as PRI members, frontline workers, and department officials.
- Developing local indicators and targets for improved data collection and analysis.
- Strengthening convergence between various government departments for better policy execution.
We supported the Department of Panchayati Raj in aligning SDG goals with local governance priorities to ensure that no one is left behind.
Key Initiatives and Achievements
Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav - Events Week Celebration
Sky Social was invited by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj to participate in the National Stakeholders Conference on SDG localization during the Iconic Week Celebration. Our initiatives on women and child rights and the creation of child-friendly panchayats were showcased as best practices in Madhya Pradesh’s presentation.
Training of Trainers (ToT) Sessions
In collaboration with the Department of Panchayati Raj, we conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) session alongside key stakeholders such as the State Planning Commission, UNICEF, and Samarthan. Our sessions focused on:
- SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation: Creating water-sufficient villages.
- SDG 5 – Gender Equality: Developing women-friendly villages.
These trainers are now playing a crucial role in training PRI members, frontline workers, and resource persons at the grassroots level, strengthening awareness, implementation, and monitoring of SDGs.
State Level Consultation on SDG Implementation
Sky Social participated in a State Level Consultation on the Role of Institutions in Localizing SDGs, organized by the Department of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development. Institutions, universities, and civil society groups discussed their role in policy advocacy, capacity-building, and innovative solutions to achieve SDGs.
State Level Workshop with Government Officials
Sky Social organized a State-Level Workshop with officials from the Rural Development, Tribal, Women and Child Development, Health, Agriculture, and Fisheries departments. The workshop focused on enhancing departmental convergence at the grassroots level to ensure coordinated action in achieving SDGs.
